Submission on Bill C-27, an Act to amend the Pension Benefits Standards Act

CURC is strongly supportive of increasing the Canada Pension Plan/Quebec Pension Plan (CPP/QPP) to 50% of the average wage: CPP/QPP covers all workers and thus has a large contribution base to draw on, making it more efficient to administer.

Re-defining your pension rights in favour of corporate profits

In 2014, under Harper, it was about replacing defined benefit pension plans with defined ‘contribution’ plans. Today, under Trudeau, it is about replacing defined benefit pension plans with ‘target’ benefit plans. It’s more than semantics. This proposed change could have a retroactive impact on present pensioners’ benefits.

CURC holds largest ever convention
