Visit CURC's new-look website

We have a NEW look with new links to click that will take you to campaigns, articles, benefits and much more. Just follow this link.

While you are there check out our Facebook page and if you haven’t Liked us yet on Facebook we’d like to hear from you. We’d also like see you and your friends there when you share your pictures of retirees in action. And tell us about your events and what’re you’re up to on behalf of retirees.

Doug MacPherson did that with his article for our May Retiree Matters column on rabble.ca. You can find the link on our website or just click here. Doug wrote the article after attending a political action conference in Toronto along with other CURC executive members. You can see a picture of them in the crowd at the conference on our Facebook page. Check in next week for an article on the CPP by Kevin Collins. If you have an idea for an article, and maybe you’d like to write one, let us know through our website.

Talking about political action, how about you get up to speed and have your say on pensions for all Canadians for the future? We’re talking about your Canadian plan, the Canada Pension Plan, better known as the CPP. The country’s finance ministers will talk about labour’s proposal to expand the CPP at a meeting in June. Here’s your chance to tell them to do the right thing. You can find out more about this campaign on our website. Keep checking back for events in your area leading up to the finance ministers’ meeting.

You’ll also find information on our website about Pharamacare. CURC members attended a recent Canadian Health Coalition sponsored conference called “Rethinking Drug Coverage: Time for Universal Pharamacare?” held in Ottawa. Keep an eye out for pictures from the conference on our Facebook page. You might also want to browse through documents on our website on the Pharamacare campaign.

If you’re thinking about attending our CURC convention in Ottawa in the fall, or if you just happen to be in the city between October 22nd and the 25th and want to drop by, all the details are on our website. Keep checking back for convention updates.
